After just over 2 years of experiences and constant learning, I am leaving the corporate world to focus on singing and performing. I am privileged to be supported by the AHRC while I undertake MMus in Advanced Musical Studies, specialising in performance at Royal Holloway.

Here is my first ever upload to YouTube, it is a song by Edward Elgar, Like to the Damask Rose. This recording was done in my final undergraduate year at University back in 2008, it is me playing with the styles seen within the early recordings of Edward Elgar. It experiments with portamento, diction, using different parts of the voice etc. It was recorded in one take just as an example of using the attributes in early recordings could be applied today.

WOW it has been two years since I last updated this blog. I am about to make a huge desicion in my life so seemed like a good time to pick it up again!

Today I have been in rehearsals for tomorrows Baroque day, I am singing Bach Motets as part of a small chamber choir chosen especially for the day. There are two concerts, one at lunch time and another in the evening! I am greatly looking forward to it, the music is really fun to sing :)

Wow it has been a long time since I wrote on here! It has been a very busy eventful month! Me and Dave went to centreparcs, we had a fantastic time! I then went over to Ireland for Jonny’s 21st! Again fun and frolics all round!

Now down to singing! I am currently working on William Walton’s - A song for the Lord Mayor’s Table, a truly fantastic piece! I also started learning Vaughn WIlliam’s - House of Life. House of Life is going to be performed in a couple months time; I am very excited about this as my friend Alex Thomas has orchestrated it, so it will be it’s first performance!

Easter in Snowy Skipton!

I spent the weekend in Skipton, and it snowed! I can’t believe Easter day was all snowy. It was really beautiful, we took the road Skipton to Grassington. I was a bit jealous though, because we couldn’t go sledging as I didn’t have the right clothes :(

After our trip, Lynda cooked a lovely roast dinner.

Yesterday me Dave, Will and Jonny went to the seaside! It was great fun :) We ate fish and chips as well as playing in the ‘Fantasy Forest’ hehe.

The day was nicely finished by watching the Matrix trilogy!

New Laptop!

I haven’t been on here in ages! Well I thought I should write..

I bought myself a lovely MacBook! With my job I got a nice bonus so thought I would blow it! Its great fun and all pink-a-fied!

Beyond this, I have nearly finished my solo-project! I can’t believe it, it’s just taking ages to do all my appendices. But I tell you, it looks dam hot!

Today was the first day of the Times Project, which I am managing at York. We had the training this morning and all went well! Now I need to tydy all the finances for the music soceity, all ready for change over on Thursday!

Today I had my second rehearsal with the orchestra for ‘Bella mia fiamma’. The performance is on Wednesday and I am very excited! I practised with my heels on and everything! Even though my pretty silver shoes really didn’t go with what I was wearing today!

I am wondering how Jonny’s first night in Alcuin went last night, hopefully well! It is also Gemma’s bithday today, so we had a nice opening pressie session, and goign out to EXcape (don’t know how to spell!) tonight. That’s gonna be awesome!
